Reason: For Fanime, our group decided to Magic Knights Rayearth as our masquerade costumes. I’ve always wanted to cosplay Hikaru, I just never thought it would be this verison!

Construction notes: : Phew! Another tough, tough costume! I think this costume has taken the most time to date. The chest and shoulder armor are fiberglassed and then painted. Craft foam was used for the gold parts on the shoulders so I could be more comfy. It is held together with snaps and elastic. The cape has a slot in the back where it feeds through and is velcrowed on. The dress was a modified coat pattern; casa satin, velvet and vinyl was used. Gloves were made from vinyl. Head piece was mostly made with ABS plastic and the red horn was scuplted and then re-casted in plastic. The hand thing is made of craft foam, along with my knee armor as well. The gem on the front is resin and plastic. All gems were casted myself in resin. The sword was its own endevour. The blade is foam board reinforced with fiberlgass, and then bondo to make it smooth. A dowel rod goes down the center and provides support and the a base for the hilt. The hilt itself is made of craft foam and casted resin gems. It was then painted with spray and acrylic paints. Boots were purchased from e-bay. Wig is from Cosworx and is a Scruffy and 24″ extention in Dark Pink (such a lovely color!)
